Pukalani STEM Imagineers Advance to World Robotics Event
The Pukalani STEM Imagineers won the STEM Research Project award at the Hawaiʻi State VEX IQ Robotics Championship, earning them an invitation to the VEX IQ World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky in mid April.
Pukalani is the only elementary school from Maui and one of five public schools that will represent Hawaiʻi at the event.
The team is currently raising funds in an effort to send all 14 students and their coaches to the event. Organizers say they need to raise $25,000 by April 20, 2017 as they represent both Maui and the state.
Pukalani STEM Imagineers are a group of 4th and 5th graders from Pukalani Elementary.
School administrators say this is the third year in a row that the robotics team is headed to the VEX IQ World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. The current team is comprised of three returning members and 11 new students.
