Emergency crews were called to a report of an unresponsive male pulled from the ocean at a North Shore beach known as, “Camp One,” off of Stable Road in Spreckelsville at 6:23 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017.

Maui Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto said a swimmer in the area discovered the man floating and brought him to shore, where other bystanders initiated CPR.

Pāʻia firefighters and police arrived at around 6:30 p.m. and took over CPR from beachgoers. Paramedics took over advanced care life support, but despite all life-saving efforts the man died at the scene.
