2017 Girls Water Polo HHSAA.

The 2017 Stanford Carr Development/HHSAA Girls Water Polo State Championship tips off Monday with the first-round regional taking place at Kamehameha-Kapalama, Kīhei Aquatic Center, and Kona Community Aquatic Center.

Winners of this first-round match move on to the final three days of the tournament, May 4-6, 2017 at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on the lower campus of the University of Hawaiʻi, Mānoa. The losers will end their season.

Maui Highlights: Maui’s Lahainaluna is scheduled to play in Game #2 today against Kalani at 4 p.m. at the Kīhei Aquatic Center.  Number 3 Baldwin plays Thursday, May 4 in Game #5 at 2:45 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex at UH Mānoa against the winner of today’s evening game between KS Kapālama vs Kapolei. (Maui rosters are posted below).

Nine-time defending state champion Punahou received the top seed and a first-round bye in the tournament. The Buffanblu are making its 12th appearance in 14 years of the tournament, boasting an unblemished record of 33-0 in state play and 11 state titles under the guidance of head coach Ken Smith.

OIA champion Kahuku and runner-up Roosevelt are making their 14th appearances, qualifying for every state tournament since its inception in 2004. The Red Raiders, seeded second in the tournament, are 26-14 in state tournament matches (0.650), with four runner-up titles.
