Created by artist Hermine Harman and hosted by the Enchantress Gallery by Bootzie, the event will feature a costume contest, a mermaid photo booth, a fashion show by TV-star and award-winning body painter Rachael DeBoer, live music, exquisite mermaid art, and much more.

Hermine Harman’s art has long been featured in the Enchantress Gallery by Bootzie and her paintings are adored by clients like Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler.

“My inspiration for painting mermaids began during a vision painting workshop 22 years ago and I have loved painting and decorating them ever since. Recently, I began thinking about how fun it would be to have a Maui mermaid event as the mermaid movement is exploding globally and what better place then Maui to host this celebration of the divine feminine and mermaids. With wildly successful events like Burning Man and Art Basel, people are looking for opportunities not just to look at art, but to also be a part of it,” Harman said.

Ten percent of gallery sales during the event will go to the Wailea Fire Station.

To register to enter the mermaid costume contest click here. Onsite registration will also take place prior to the start of the event at The Shops at Wailea stage from 4:30-5 p.m. Contestants will be judged based on three criteria: authenticity, creativity, and individuality.

The winning mermaid under the age of 12 will receive $25 and the winning mermaid over age 12 will receive $100 cash.

There will be a dressing room available onsite and expert mermaid assistants will be on hand to help contestants to the stage. All contestants will receive a piece of mermaid cake by master pastry chef Teresa Shurilla and a complimentary mermaid art card by Hermine Harman. Four hours of free parking will be offered to all attendees.
