Surveillance Video of Maui Hands Burglary Released

The Maui Police Department today released video surveillance from a recent burglary of the Maui Hands Art Gallery in Makawao.

During the incident, a suspect smashed open the gallery’s back door and removed several koa handled hunting knives and Ni‘ihau shell lei necklaces valued at more than $20,000.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 4:55 a.m.

The case is being investigated as a first degree theft and a second degree burglary.

The police department is now asking for the publicʻs help in identifying the individual featured in the video.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this individual or the whereabouts of the stolen items is asked to contact Detective Christopher Schmitt at (808) 244-6454 or the Maui Police Department at (808) 244-6400.
