3,450 Lose Power in N. Kīhei Outage

Around 5:10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, about 3,450 customers in the Māʻalaea and North Kīhei area experienced a power outage.

A majority of customers were restored by 6:35 a.m., with approximately 20 remaining customers brought back online by 7:25 a.m.
Some earlier reports indicated a vehicle pole accident, however crews were investigating the cause, according to Maui Electric Director of Communications, Shayna Decker.
A separate power outage was also reported on Saturday evening in Haʻikū, with power restored to all affected customers by around 6:30 p.m.
