The program provides a hands-on learning opportunity about the US Senate and encourages students to be advocates in their schools and communities. The internship is open to high school seniors from across the state.

“Each year, I look forward to the new ideas and perspectives that our high school interns bring to the office,” said Sen. Schatz. “I encourage anyone who wants to help make a difference in their community to apply to join our team.”

Schatz’s office says that high school interns will be selected based on their community involvement, diversity of interests and life experiences, and demonstrated leadership. His office says this internship is not an office position and students should miss little or no class time completing assignments related to the program.
