5 Kahului Road Construction Projects Begin Sept. 11September 1, 2017, 9:30 AM HST · Updated September 11, 7:13 AM 1 Comment
The Department of Public Works advises motorists that there are five road construction projects that will be taking place in Kahului starting the week of Sept. 11, 2017.
Because there are many side streets and alternate routes in Kahului, the county asks that detour around construction and avoid these areas.
Residents who live along affected streets will be informed door to door by the contractor who will either leave information hanging on their doorknobs or talk to residents directly.
The following roads are scheduled for resurfacing:
· Kea Street: Wākea Avenue to Ano Street
· Kahiki Street: Wākea Avenue to Papa Avenue
· La‘au Street: Kaulana Street to Ni‘ihau Street
· Makali‘i Street: Papa Avenue to Ani Street
The final project on Oha‘a Street involves the installation of three speed humps, from Ka‘au Circle to Uhu Street. Traffic will still be allowed through the area via a contraflow lane and motorists are asked to drive with caution.
Other work items include installation of pavement marking and striping, adjusting water valves, sewer manholes, and other incidental items.
Road construction will begin on Monday, Sept. 11 and continue to Sept. 29, weather permitting between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
