Wailuku architect J. Morgan Gerdel, AIA has launched a new architecture firm LLC, offering design and planning services for residential, commercial, and institutional projects.

“We have started the firm to offer a different process and experience to clients,” said Gerdel.  “Using the latest digital tools, our goal is to provide design innovation, craft and value to the project. We deliver a personalized focus to your project to ensure it is successful in meeting your goals.”

Gerdel is a LEED Accredited Professional in both Building Design + Construction and Homes rating systems, signifying leadership in the field of green building and expertise in sustainability. He has nearly 20 years of experience in design and construction, earning recognition at both the local and national level for his work on custom home projects.

In 2015, Gerdel was selected as one of five young architects for the “AIA/Houzz Future of Architecture Award” in the Category of “Small Spaces” and was recognized at the AIA National Convention in Atlanta, GA for his work on a LEED-Certified home in Kula.

Gerdel has served locally on the Maui County Urban Design Review Board as Vice-Chair, the AIA Maui Executive Committee and the nonprofit running club Valley Isle Road Runners. He has also participated in career days at Seabury Hall, Kamehameha Schools Maui, and Baldwin High School to share his experience in the field of architecture with students.

Morgan Gerdel is a Seabury Hall Class of ‘96 graduate, earning a Bachelor of Science in Art & Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000. Prior to founding LLC, Gerdel was principal architect at Architectural Design & Construction, Inc., originally joining the firm in January 2000. He became a licensed architect in the State of Hawaiʻi in 2007.

In his spare time he enjoys running and travel, he has completed 16 half marathons to date in Hawaiʻi, California and Japan, and plans to eventually complete one in each state.
