Maui Crime Sept. 3-9, 2017: Burglaries, Break-Ins, Thefts

Maui police responded to 14 burglaries, 16 vehicle thefts and 15 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Sept. 3-9, 2017.

Burglaries remained the same from the week before with 14 incidents reported over the seven day period. Vehicle thefts were up 33% from the week before when 12 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins remained the same with 15 break-ins reported both weeks.

During the week, 33% of the crimes occurred in Kīhei and for the first time since July 1, a vehicle break-in was reported at Nākālele Point.

Of the 16 vehicle thefts, seven have since been recovered.
