Free Health Screenings at Walmart, Sept. 23September 20, 2017, 1:21 PM HST · Updated September 20, 1:23 PM 0 Comments
Nearly everyone in America will have access to free health screenings, education, services and products as Walmart stores nationwide host Walmart Wellness Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
All 10 stores in Hawaiʻi will be participating.
Walmart announced it has again teamed up with the American Diabetes Association for the in-store event at 4,700 Walmart locations across the country.
According to the ADA, nearly 600,000 in Hawaiʻi are living with prediabetes or diabetes, affecting one in three individuals. The ADA estimates nearly 8 million people with diabetes are undiagnosed in the US.
Last June the retailer teamed up with the ADA for a health screening event and as a result, tens of thousands of customers received follow-up support.
The free health screening event will provide Hawaiʻi residents an opportunity to learn valuable health information such as:
• Blood glucose
• Blood pressure
• Body mass index
• Low-cost immunizations
• And in select locations, customers can also take advantage of free vision screenings
Each customer who learns of potential risks will be offered the opportunity to receive follow up information from the ADA.
Since its first Walmart Wellness Day event, the company has provided more than 1.4 million free screenings to people across the country, helping customers uncover existing health problems. For some, the screenings have been life-saving. Hundreds of thousands of Americans turn out for each Walmart Wellness Day event, making it America’s largest single day health fair event.
