The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory for portions of Hawaiian Island waters until 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2017.

Areas affected in include Mā‘alaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel and leeward and southeast waters around the Big Island.

Winds are coming from the northeast and east at 20 to 25 knots.

Seas are 6 to 9 feet high.

A Small Craft Advisory indicates that inexperienced mariners—especially those operating smaller vessels—should avoid navigating in these hazardous conditions.
