Nā Keiki O Emalia Holds 1st Annual Emalia’s Table Fundraiser
In celebration of the late Emalia Brown Guard’s birthday on June 19th, Nā Keiki O Emalia (NKOE) is launching their first annual online fundraising event, “Emalia’s Table”, which launched on Sat., June 9 and runs until June 30, 2018.
NKOE invites supporters to bid on several exclusive dining packages and/or purchase a variety of dinners to be enjoyed with friends and families in Emalia’s honor. All proceeds support the Nā Keiki O Emalia, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on Maui that offers support services for grieving children and teens on Maui at no cost. Starting June 9, auction details and all bids and purchase opportunities can be found here. Participants can also call (808) 868-2282 to place bids, buy dinners, or donate.
Nā Keiki O Emalia is purposefully inspiring the gathering friends, neighbors, and families for celebration dinners on the dates of their choice within the following year to remember Emalia and to support grieving children on Maui.
“Emalia loved birthdays–her own and others’–and would begin planning in early spring how she wanted to spend her birthday,” said Guard’s mother and NKOE Executive Director Brooke Brown. “Emalia’s Table is a novel and unusual auction, one where the purpose is not to get a great item at a steal, but rather to bring a wonderful evening into your life as you fund Nā Keiki O Emalia. As you share a delicious meal with loved ones, you can feel good knowing you are helping many of Maui’s keiki.”
A few of the auction items at Emalia’s Table include:
- An “over-the-top” six-course meal for a party of 8 prepared by Maui’s chef extraordinaire, Bev Gannon, and served at her beautiful Makawao home
- A three-course dinner for 10 in your home prepared by Jeff Scheer, executive chef at The Millhouse
- A dinner for 6 (that retails for $600) at Merriman’s Kapalua
All auction packages can be redeemed through June 30, 2019. In addition to the auction items, Emalia’s Table also offers meals for purchase, dubbed “Meals to Heal Hearts,” which include catered dinners for up to 20 people from well-known Maui chefs and restaurants. For these meals, there is no competitive auction, and more than one can be purchased of each. These too can be redeemed through June 30, 2019.
All proceeds directly support NKOE’s peer support groups that serve grieving keiki on Maui. For more event information, visit NKOE’s ClickBid auction site, at: http://www.nkoemalia.cbo.io/
