Around 10:05 a.m. today (Tuesday, June 26, 2018), an island wide outage was reported, affecting approximately 3,229 customers on Moloka‘i.
Company executives with Maui Electric say the outage was triggered after a loose sheet of roofing flew onto power lines, bringing down the lines along Mauna Loa Highway near the landfill and recycling center.
As of 1:20 p.m., Maui Electric crews were continuing to work safely to restore power as quickly as possible.
