The Hawaiʻi Solar Energy Association announced its endorsement today of David Ige’s reelection campaign as Governor of the State of Hawaiʻi.

Association representatives say Governor Ige has “a formidable record of support for clean energy in Hawaiʻi.” The nonprofit cites Ige’s opposition to the takeover of the Hawaiian Electric Company by Nextera, opposition to the development of liquified natural gas, and his leadership efforts to enact the state’s commitment to a 100% renewable energy by 2045.

“Governor Ige is committed to bringing renewable energy to Hawaiʻi,” says Will Giese, HSEA Executive Director. “The Hawaiʻi Solar Energy Association is proud to endorse Governor Ige’s leadership on clean energy for another four years.”

“Governor Ige understands that renewable resources like solar are not a risk, but an imperative,” says Brian Gold, HSEA’s Board President, “We’re excited to continue working with his administration to provide greater customer choice and cleaner energy for the people of Hawaiʻi.”

Founded in 1977, the Hawaiʻi Solar Energy Association is a Non-Profit organization and is comprised of installers, distributors, manufacturers, auditors, and financiers of solar water heating and photovoltaic systems. The majority of our member companies are locally owned and operated, making HSEA the leading voice of Hawaiʻi’s solar industry.
