Man Involved in Wailuku Standoff Arrested for Stolen Vehicles
A 38-year-old Wailuku man was arrested and charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and resisting an order to stop a vehicle.
Pplice say Keoni Kuhaulua was arrested and charged on Thursday, July 27th following an investigation.
The investigation found that between July 19th and July 24th Kuhaulua was observed operating two of the stolen vehicles on separate days by Maui Police Officers. Each time officers attempted to stop Kuhaulua, police say he would flee.
On Wednesday July 25, 2018 one of the stolen vehicles was found in the parking lot at Hale Makana O Wai‘ale in Wailuku.
Police say Kuhaulua was found in one of the units at the complex that belonged to a friend of his. After a brief standoff, Kuhaulua was arrested and taken into custody.
Kuhaulua was being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
