Proclamation Extends Emergency Assistance for Volcano Relief

Governor David Ige signed a third supplementary proclamation relating to the continuing lava flows and volcanic activity at Kīlauea.

“This supplementary proclamation extends the authority to spend state funds as appropriated for quick and efficient action to protect the health, safety and welfare of our Hawai‘i County residents. This also helps to provide quick relief of suffering, damage, and losses caused by the eruption,” said Gov. Ige.

The lava flows and volcanic activity continue to endanger communities in the Puna District, and are expected to continue causing additional losses, suffering, and the displacement of individuals and families.

Gov. Ige signed the initial emergency proclamation on May 3, the day the latest eruption began. This latest supplementary proclamation is effective until Oct. 2, 2018.
