Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi Uses Donation Funds to Aid Disaster Victims
Catholic Charities Hawai’i is using donation funds to help disaster victims on Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi island.
Last week, CCHʻs Hilo office received a $2,500 check from the Bank of Hawai‘i Foundation to help those affected by the recent volcanic eruptions in Puna.
CCH also received a $200,000 grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs in May to provide support for flood victims on Kauaʻi.
The group also received $252,000 from the Hawaii Community Foundation and $120,000 from Catholic Charities USA to aid victims on Kaua’i and Hawai’i Island.
CCH used some of the funds to assist evacuees in Puna with emergency home repairs, rental and utility assistance, and other related needs. The funds also provided food, clothing, supplies such as tents and beds, as well as bus tickets and car gas for the victims.
Affected residents in need of assistance can contact Catholic Charities’ Hilo office at (808) 961-7050. Those wishing to make a donation to the disaster relief efforts on Kaua‘i or Hawai‘i Island can visit CCHʻs website or call (808) 527-4820.
