Body Recovered From E Kuiaha Gulch in Ha‘ikū Maui

Emergency responders recovered the body of a female in a gulch along the north shore of Maui on Monday.

Maui police say Wailuku patrol officers responded to a report at around 7:20 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, of an unresponsive female who was found at the bottom of the East Kuiaha Gulch near Hahana Road in Haʻikū.

Police say the identity of the female has not be released pending notification of next of kin.

At this time the circumstances of this death are still under investigation and the case has been classified as an unattended death.

Area residents say police obtained access to private property in an effort to recover the body and were at the scene for much of Monday afternoon.
