A 34-year-old man was rescued from the blow hole area at Nākālele Point on Sunday, after suffering an injury in a fall at the location.

The incident was reported at 12:21 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018.

Maui Fire Captain Paul Haake said the male visitor injured his left wrist and ankle in a fall.

Fire personnel from Engine 11 out of Nāpili hiked down to the man and treated his injuries.  The man was then airlifted by Rescue 10 personnel aboard the department’s Air 1 helicopter and delivered to awaiting medics.

The incident was one of three rescues conducted by the department on Sunday afternoon. The others included the rescue of 9 people from the “Swinging Bridges” area of Waiheʻe Valley; and the rescue of 16 people at the Wailuku River in ʻĪao Valley.
