The Business Spotlight: A Look at Trends with The Mind’s Eye Interiors
So there’s this particular couch you like. And a few sweet tables. Plus some cool decor. But how does it all fit together in a way that represents YOU in a room?? There are countless options when it comes to interior design, so we collaborated with experts at The Mind’s Eye Interiors to highlight some of the top trends in color, style and design.
Interior designer Pamela Neff says style trends can lean toward a Traditional feel, more modern, Contemporary look, or somewhere in between, known as Transitional. She also outlines the hottest colors and many other must-know details on the design scene in our video above.
According to Neff, popular vision trends include Minimalism, which leans toward simple, calm, uncomplicated style. On the other end of the spectrum, there’s Maximalism, with a flourish of multilayering and extreme design, touting a motto of “more is more!” Think lots of pillows.
So what about themes to dress up and customize those trends? Neff says Boho is a favorite, bringing forth an artistic, Bohemian blend of color, patterns and textures. Glam has splashed back onto the scene, flaunting brilliant metallics and eye-catching decor from the glitzy era, but with a more elegant vibe. Eastern Influence is popular here in Hawai‘i, showcasing different cultures and expanding global awareness. Organic is another beloved theme, featuring wood grain, raw edges and natural, earthy textures. The Coastal and Island themes are top performers on Maui; here’s how they compare.
“Coastal: think of seashells, driftwood; like a seashore, on the coast, beachcombing, creatures of the sea, edge of the shoreline,” explains Neff. “Island is more like ferns, fauna, Hawaiiana, palms.”
You’ll find plenty to choose from throughout The Mind’s Eye Interiors’ 14,000-square-foot showroom, whether you’re looking to furnish a single room, a condo or an entire home or office space. And the beauty is, you can blend whatever trends, colors and themes you like to best suit your style, and the experienced staff is there to support your creative vision if you’re looking for input.
“It’s neat to interdisperse,” says Neff, “because that’s really how people can have their own individuality!”
