3rd Annual Paddle For Keiki, Dec. 16
The 3rd Annual Paddle for Keiki takes place on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Kīhei Canoe Club. The un-timed, anything-that-floats, jungle-rules race is a fundraiser for children in need in Maui County.
Participants who make a minimum donation of $25 or bring an unwrapped toy will receive a free event t-shirt or keepsake ornament and brunch at Nalu’s.
The event is put on each December by Ron Panzo, president of Street Bikers United and owner of Nalu’s South Shore Grill, and Timothy Lara, founder of Hawaiian Paddle Sports.
Last year’s event helped bring toys to 200 children on Moloka‘i via the voyaging canoe Mo‘okiha o Pi‘ilani.
Registration is currently available online.
The event runs from 7 a.m. to noon on Dec. 16, and includes the following lineup:
- 7 a.m.: Check in at Kīhei Canoe Club for Paddle For Keiki
- 8 a.m.: Races start
- 9 a.m.: Races end
- 9:45 a.m.: Paddle For Keiki Toy Parade. Join the caravan as Santa and an outrigger canoe full of toys head from Kīhei Canoe Club to Nalu’s at Azeka Shopping Center with a large motorcycle escort from Street Bikers United.
- 10 a.m.: After party brunch at Nalu’s. Enjoy food and drink specials and live music. Free brunch for pre-registered guests who donate $25 or more or who donate a gift of equal or greater value.
