Josh and Souk Jerman Foundation Scholarship Accepting Applicants
Josh Jerman of Hawai‘i Life Real Estate Brokers is once again offering the Josh and Souk Jerman Foundation Scholarship to encourage college-bound students to use their education to benefit Maui County.
Now in its sixteenth consecutive year, the Josh and Souk Jerman Foundation Scholarship (formerly the Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship) program provides scholarships to college-bound students who will attend an accredited four-year college or university. To date, the program has awarded more than $44,000 in scholarships to Maui, Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i high school seniors who have displayed a passion for returning to Maui County after college to contribute to the community.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be Maui County residents already enrolled or enrolling in a full-time program at any four-year accredited college or university for the 2019-20 academic year. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and plan to return and work in Maui County after graduation. All scholarship applications must be submitted by Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019.
Last year, Jerman awarded three Maui County high school graduates scholarships of $1,000 each. The recipients were Kaya Givensel from Seabury Hall, Veronica Winham from Seabury Hall, and Kiki Bekkum from Hāna High and Elementary School. Givensel is attending Arizona State University, where she is studying landscape architecture. Winham is attending Dartmouth College, where she is studying political science and English; she is also running NCAA Division 1 cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. Bekkum is attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where she is pursuing a degree in psychology.
This year, three more high school seniors will be eligible to receive the $1,000 scholarship awards.
