The County of Maui is offering options for recycling Christmas trees and unwanted electronics this holiday season.

Tree recycling is available at the five locations listed below. All decorations must be removed, including tinsel, for safe composting. Anyone interested in recycling at any of these sites can call them individually for additional requirements.

  • EKO Compost, Central Maui Landfill (572-8844)
  • Olowalu Convenience Center (893-0932)
  • Hāna Landfill (264-6313)
  • Kīhei Compost (874-0899)
  • Pawn’s Tree & Trimming, Molokaʻi Landfill (553-8073)

The Rotary Club of Upcountry will hold a curbside Christmas tree pickup service from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, for the Pāʻia, Haʻikū, Makawao, Pukalani and Kula areas. The club is requesting a $10 donation for each small and medium tree and a minimum $20 donation for each large tree. All of the funds collected from the pickup will support the clubʻs community service projects. Pickups must be scheduled by 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 by contacting Zak Pacholl at (503) 550-6666.

The county will hold a holiday cleanup day for free electronics recycling from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 at the E-Cycling program location, which is located on 901 Lower Main St. in Wailuku. Televisions, computers, monitors and printers will be accepted. The program does not accept microwaves, cell phones, stereos, copiers, fax machines, computer games, or any other electronic devices.
