Man Arrested for Burglary, Found within Closed Waikapū Community Center

Maui police arrested a man following reports that someone had broken into the Waikapū Community Center on Monday afternoon.
The incident as reported at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 at the center, which is currently closed to the public for renovations.
According to police reports, Shawn Magallanes was found to be inside without permission and allegedly tried to run from police.
He was arrested for alleged second degree burglary and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $1,200.
