Hawai‘i Secures Injunction Halting Attempt to Limit Birth Control Access

Hawaiʻi Attorney General Clare Connors has joined a coalition of fourteen Attorney Generals seeking to protect access to birth control.

The group secured a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump Administration’s attempt to limit cost-free birth control access, which was set to go into effect on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019.

The coalition argues that the preventative care is guaranteed by the Affordable Care Act.

“The court’s comprehensive order safeguards access to health care services,” said Attorney General Connors. “The injunction prevents the Trump Administration from implementing restrictions on the lawful right of women to make their own healthcare decisions. We will continue to stand with our colleagues to ensure women have access to the healthcare they are guaranteed under the law.”

The coalition of attorneys general are from: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
