Kraken Coffee will celebrate its grand opening in Kīhei on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. with live music and free coffee for kama‘āina.

The truck has a drive-through on one side and walk-up window on the other, located in the new food truck zone east of Azeka Mauka shopping center on Pi‘ikea Avenue.

Kraken Coffee touts some unique features, like making its ice cubes out of coffee, and offering a standard four shots in every 20-ounce drink with an option to “get kraken” and add two more shots.

“Our coffee is locally-sourced and roasted,” explains Josh Marten, who co-owns Kraken along with Da Nani Pirates food truck and Aloha Thai Fusion in Kīhei. “We offer kombucha and nitro coffee on tap, as well as smoothies and fresh-made breads and cookies.”

Marten says they also feature a signature item known as a loco moco burrito with gravy. He has partnered with co-owners Matt and Magna Pineiro along with his wife Duangjai Marten to create Kraken.
