The American Automobile Association released its Five Diamond Rating list of 121 hotels throughout the country. The list, which includes four Hawaiʻi hotels, recognizes resorts that offer superior amenities and the latest in hospitality technology, including in-room tablets, mobile apps, mobile keys, and digital messaging. Earning a spot on the list also qualifies these resorts for this year’s AAA Five Diamond Award list.

“The AAA Five Diamond rating reflects the upper echelon of hotels that offer beautiful physical settings and extensive amenities, the highest quality furnishings and highly exceptional guest service,” AAA Hawaiʻi’s Regional Manager Liane Sumida.  “AAA Hawaiʻi congratulates the state’s AAA Five Diamond establishments for making exceptional customer service happen every day.”

The Five Diamond Rating process involves in-person inspections, anonymous overnight stays, and an expert panel review to ensure credibility. Less than 1% of the 27,000 AAA Inspected and Approved hotels receive the Five Diamond Rating.

AAA Hawaiʻi also announced its local AAA Four Diamond ratings, which includes four properties that received the rating for the first time. These resorts include the Hokulani Waikīkī and The Grand Islander in Honolulu, as well as the Koloa Landing at Poʻipū Beach Resort on Kauaʻi and the Kohala Suites on Hawaiʻi island.

According to AAA, their Diamond rating system aims to provide travelers with the broadest range of property ratings of resorts in the US, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. AAA began inspecting hotels and restaurants in 1937. The AAA Four and Five Diamond restaurant ratings will be released in February.
