Maui gas prices in Kahului and Wailuku averaged $3.63 for regular. That’s three cents higher than last Thursday, six cents higher than on this date last month and 29 cents lower than on this date a year ago.

Gas prices went up throughout the islands in the past week, according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch.

Today’s statewide average price is $3.42 a gallon, which is five cents higher than last Thursday, 13 cents higher than a month ago and nine cents less than a year ago, according to AAA.

“The Energy Information Administration’s weekly report showed that western United States gasoline stocks fell by 1.5 million barrels from the previous week and now sit at 31.3 billion barrels,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager. “Gasoline stocks are approximately 1.5 billion barrels lower than at this time last year, which could cause prices to increase more if there is a supply challenge in the region.”
