A Kaiser spokesperson tells Maui Now that the Maui Police Department responded to their Maui Lani facility “due to a security issue.”
Maui Police Lt. Gregg Okamoto said they were notified that a threat had occurred, but when police arrived, the individual had already left.
“We are notifying patients and rescheduling appointments for the remainder of the day,” a Kaiser Spokesperson told Maui Now.
Maui Lani After Hours Care will be closed this evening.
Kaiser representatives say they attempted to call and reschedule patients today but if they need to reschedule they can call 243-6000 tomorrow morning.
Lt. Okamoto said Kaiser shut down on their own before police got there.
The response was initially reported at around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019. Police were still investigating at 4:06 p.m.
Police also responded to a separate threat at the Maui Memorial Medical Center several hours later.
Maui police say a phone call threat was received to the hospital at around 6:30 p.m.
A lockdown was implemented, but no threat was found. Officers have since left the hospital.
Maui Police Lt. Gregg Okamoto tells us that the threat was possibly made by the same person that made threat to Kaiser earlier in the day.
