Meth Recovered in Wailuku Vehicle Search

Maui police recovered nearly 430 grams of crystal methamphetamine during a vehicle search in Wailuku on Tuesday, April 17, 2019.

Police executed the search warrants on a vehicle in the parking lot of 1063 Lower Main Street.

In addition to the meth, police also recovered 1.04 grams of marijuana and more than $7,800 in cash.

As a result three individuals were arrested.

Lorden Cooper, 35, and Jamen Sugahara, 39, were charged with various drug offenses and were being held in lieu of $81,000 bail each.  Jannel Demello Orta, 35, was released pending further investigation.

All three were arrested on suspicion of: first degree promotion of a dangerous drug, third degree promotion of a dangerous drug, third degree promotion of a detrimental drug, promoting a controlled substance near a park and criminal conspiracy.
