TSA Advisory for Kahului Airport on Maui
UPDATE: (1:24 p.m. 5.4.19)
Within the last few two hours, the screening equipment at Kahului Airport (OGG) that was previously inoperable has been repaired. Normal TSA security checkpoint screening operations will resume immediately. TSA will be fully staffed and ready to screen travelers departing OGG.
PREVIOUS POST:
TSA is advising travelers to arrive at Kahului Airport at least two hours prior to flight departure due to potential delays at the security checkpoint. Currently, TSA is experiencing reduced screening capacity of carry-on luggage due to an inoperable x-ray unit following a power surge in the security checkpoint earlier today.
- Arrive at least two hours prior to flight departure. The security checkpoints are extremely busy during the evening hours due to the number of departing flights scheduled at that time.
- Consider checking your luggage. Reducing the number of carry-on bags and personal items that need to be screened through the security checkpoint saves time for all travelers.
- Be prepared for the screening process. Don’t bring prohibited items to security checkpoint. Use TSA’s “Can I Bring?” feature to find out whether an item is allowed in your carry-on luggage or if it needs to be placed in checked luggage.
