10,000 Rose Petals Dropped Over Makawao in Memorial Day Tribute

As part of this year’s Memorial Day Ceremony, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters released 10,000 rose petals over veterans’ graves at Makawao Veterans Cemetery during a Shower of Flowers tribute. Attendees included Maui County Veterans and their families.

The Memorial Day tribute included:

  • Music by King Kekaulike High School Band led by Casey Nagata
  • Maui Firefighters singing the national and Hawaii anthems
  • Special guest Melemai Kapu’uwaimai choral group from Honolulu
  • Reading of the names of veterans who passed this year and are buried at the cemetery
  • Dove release as a sign of peace by Maui Wedding Cakes
  • Maui Army National Guard presenting color guard and twenty-one gun salute

This honorary event, was sponsored by the Maui County Veterans Council and the County of Maui.
