World Oceans Day at Maui Ocean Center, June 8
Maui Ocean Center is hosting a Worlds Ocean Day event featuring live performances by Marty Dread and Nā Wai ʻEhā at the Aquarium on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
The World Oceans Day event will also feature a beach-to-reef cleanup, keiki activities and marine presentations.
World Oceans Day will kick off at the Keālia Coastal Boardwalk beach-to-reef cleanup with the Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute and Wahi Hawaiʻi from 8 to 10 a.m.

At the Aquarium, reggae artist Marty Dread will headline a series of live performances including the 2019 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning Nā Wai ʻEhā, Maui Community Band, and hula.
Throughout the park, ocean-centric activities will be available for guests including exhibit and dive presentations, a Chef Diver and Sustainable Seafood presentation, Coral Explore Station and more.
For children, the Aquarium will host a Keiki Hour with Marty Dread, face painting, marine-themed story time and crafts activity, ʻukulele and hula lessons, and screenings of the popular TV series “The Octonauts” in the Makai Theater.
To celebrate marine conservation, the first 200 guests to enter the park with a reusable water bottle will receive a complimentary, reusable bamboo straw from Wahi Hawaiʻi and a free fountain drink.
Guests will also have the opportunity to engage with additional ocean-minded organizations present at the event including Wahi Hawaiʻi, MOCMI, Whale Trust, Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Indigo Wild Clothing, Hannah’s Plastic-Free Soaps and Sharktastics.
