Two Hāna Seniors Receive Kukui Mālamalama Scholarship

Two Hāna High School graduates have been awarded $2,000 each, a laptop and a Da Kine backpack by the Kukui Mālamalama Scholarship program. The scholarship award is administered by the Hāna Maui Trust.

This year’s recipients are Chason Keoki Hoopai-Waikoloa and Shylan ‘Ilikea Contreras.

Chason will be attending Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, and Shylan will be attending college in Hawaiʻi.

The Kukui Mālamalama Scholarships are funded by local residents that are interested in seeing more Hawaiʻi students continue their education after high school.

Six schools are participating in the Kukui Malamalama Scholarship program; Hāna High School, Molokaʻi High School, Lānaʻi High School, Ke Kula Niʻihau School, Waiʻanae High School and Kahuku High School.

The award goes to two students of good character who want to continue their education after high school.
