WWE Hall-of-Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan Meets Maui Fans
WWE Hall-of-Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan made an appearance at Maui Comics & Collectibles in Kahului today as part of the store’s 4th of July festivities.
The WWE wrestler has an in-the-ring persona of a patriotic “tough-but-loveable big guy” that carries a flag in one hand and a two-by-four in the other.
He signed autographs and took photos with fans during the three hour event that began at noon and concluded at 3 p.m.
Those in attendance say a steady flow of fans filed through the doors throughout the event. Store owner Alika Seki tells Pacific Media Group’s Jay Salmo that between 100 and 200 people were in attendance over the course of the meet and greet event.
The WWE superstar ran out of headshot photos for autographs and also signed more than 40 two-by-fours, which he characteristically carries over his shoulder during his entrance to the ring.
According to his online WWE profile, Duggan began his career in sports-entertainment in the late 70s after his career with the Atlanta Falcons ended due to knee injuries.
An announcement on the store’s Facebook page said all food sales from the event would benefit the Maui Comic Con non-profit.
