Honoapiʻilani Traffic Accident – ROAD IS NOW OPEN

Update: (5:17 p.m. 7.5.19)

The Honoapiʻilani Highway is now OPEN in both directions as of 5:17 p.m.  It was closed earlier this afternoon following a motor vehicle accident on the Māʻalaea side of the tunnel. Motorists can continue to expect significant delays as traffic will take time to resume its normal flow.

Motorists are advised of a traffic accident on the Honoapiʻilani Highway on the Māʻalaea side of the tunnel.  The accident was reported at around 4 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019.

Maui police, fire personnel and medics are responding. Maui police issued a road closure notification at 4:30 p.m. saying the road was closed in both directions.

Motorists can expect significant delays.
