3-Year-Old Near Drowning at Pool in Kāʻanapali

A three-year-old boy was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center after being pulled unresponsive from a pool in Kāʻanapali on Saturday.

The incident was reported at 4:57 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Kualapa Place.

Fire officials described the incident as a near-drowning and said first responders were called to the scene for a report that the toddler had fallen into the pool.

According to department reports, the patient was blue and not responding when removed from the water.

When fire and EMS units arrived on scene, the boy was breathing, but not responding to verbal stimuli, fire officials said.

The boy was treated on scene by medics and transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center for further care.
