She is survived by her husband, Rodney Uwekoolani; two daughters, Rachel (John) DeCoite and Kalei Uwekoolani; six brothers, Thomas, Hugh, Joseph, David, Jim and John Jackson; four sisters, Janice Higgins, Marney Cherry, Sally Hastings and Kathy Snellbaker; four grandchildren, Keoni (Hiialoa Kahekili) Palakiko, Keanu and Kayden Uwekoolani-DeCoite and Roni Naea; one great-grandson, Kainoa Uwekoolani-DeCoite and one more on the way.

Devin Kirk Wana died on July 22, 2019 in Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi. He was born on June 23, 1970 in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. Devin worked as a security officer at Kona Airport. He is survived by wife Lily; son Isaiah Wana; daughter Alexis Wana; mother Mabel Anderson of Hilo; brothers Samson Wana Jr. of Hilo; Walter (Aimee) Wana of Hilo; Dana (Maile Moresh) Wana of Hilo; and Aaron (Roxcie) Carvalho of Kauaʻi. Private services will be held.

Richy “Ku” Abihai
January 8, 1963 – July 20, 2019

Ku is survived by his wife, Madelene Rabago; son, Cory Rabago; daughters, Katelyn Rabago-Abihai and Heaven Tancayo (Brandon) siblings, Thomas Abihai Jr., Terry Abihai, Primetta (Keala) Abihai, Perryne O’Reilly, Oral Abihai and Paulette Abihai as well as six grand children. Private services will be held.

James D. Garvin, 73, of Hilo, passed away on July 19, 2019 at Hilo Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 5, 1945 in Hartford, CT. No services held. James is survived by spouse Julie A. Garvin of Hilo; sons Michael Garvin of Vermont, Jason (Amanda) Hescock of Virginia, Jeremy (Darcy) Riddle of Pāhoa; daughters Janelle (Nogi Guillermo) Riddle of Hilo, beloved dog Alamea; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo.

January 19, 1938 – July 6, 2019

Robert Po’okapu Keli’iho’omalu Jr., 81, of Hilo, Hawaiʻi, passed away on July 6, 2019 in Kahului, Maui. He was born on Jan. 19, 1938 in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. He served in the United States Army in Germany. He was a chef and Able Seaman in the Merchant Marines and seaman with Hawaiian Tug and Barge and Young Brothers.

Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 at Ballard Family Mortuary in Hilo (570 Kinoole St. Hilo, HI 96720). Visitation at 5 p.m., service at 6:30 p.m. Burial at 9 a.m., on Aug. 2, 2019 at Veterans 2, 110 Laimana St. Hilo, HI 96720.

Robert is survived by Brothers Francis “Moody” (Sandra) Kaho’ohalahala, Charles (Marion) Moody; sisters Thelma Kanani “Buff” Keli’iho’omalu Kamekona, Lei Barr, Lani (Jim) Puzey, Pualani (Wyatt) Gull; Hanai brother Herbert Kalani Moke; hānai sisters Sandra (Bobby) Lee, Theresa Sharon Becktel; hānai sisters-in-law Roswitha “Rose” Moke, Carmen Moke; aunt Judith “Judy” Akoni; numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo.
