No injuries were reported after six paddlers were rescued from a foundering canoe in Oʻahu waters earlier today
The Coast Guard received a report of the canoe taking on water 1 mile off Black Point near Diamond Head just before noon.
Honolulu Fire crews helped the Coast Guard recover the paddlers and tow the canoe to shore.
“It is always best to play it safe when out on the water and report if you believe you are in trouble,” Sector Honolulu watchstander Alvin Seguin said.
The Coast Guard recommends that waterway users take communication devices, such as cell phones, marine radios, and personal locator beacons, with them before entering the ocean.
