Upcountry Man Dies After Being Rescued From Haneoʻo Bay

A
38-year-old Brad Apo of Makawao died on Monday after being pulled unresponsive from East Maui waters.
The incident occurred at around 5 p.m. on Sunday at Haneoʻo Bay.
Authorities said Apo was seen floating face down in the water approximately 50 feet from shore.
Bystanders had removed him from the water and started CPR prior to the arrival of Fire and EMS personnel.
Fire and EMS took over resuscitation efforts on Apo, who regained a pulse and was transported to Hāna Airport and flown to Kahului for further treatment.

Apo was pronounced dead Monday morning, according to Maui police.
