Mauiʻs own Kūikawā will perform at the Baldwin Home Museum in Lahaina on Sept. 26 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The free performance is a part of the monthly Hawaiian Music Series, which is now in its 11th consecutive year.

Kūikawā is comprised of Joshua Kulhavy-Sutherland, James “Koakānea” Mattos, and Lukela Kanae.

The trio met in 2016 as students in the Institute of Hawaiian Music at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui campus. Soon after, the avid Hawaiian music fans formed a group and began performing throughout the island.

The band members say their sound is inspired by the arrangements of their idols, the Makaha Sons of Niʻihau and the Brothers Cazimero.

Limited seating is provided. Blankets, mats, and low beach chairs are welcome.

There will be paid event parking behind the event venue. Parking proceeds will support efforts to preserve Lahainaʻs historic sites.
