Maui Police Investigating Dead Body Found in Lahaina Harbor

Maui police are looking into the death of a 40-year-old man found floating in Lahaina Harbor last week.

Fire department officials said the crew of Ladder 3 helped to retrieve the body of Sione Masaniai of Lahaina at 1:13 a.m. on Friday, September 20. Boat owners at the harbor confirmed blood was found on the decks of several vessels before the body was discovered in the water.

Masaniai’s family have since been notified about the incident. The case has been classified an unattended death pending autopsy results police said.
