Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi Announces ‘Vampire Season’ Drives

The Blood Bank of Hawai’i will be hosting four blood drives on Maui this month.

“October is a favorite month for vampires, but knowing one in six people that enter the hospital need blood, Blood Bank of Hawaii is focused on quenching the needs of Hawaii’s patients,” the bank wrote in a press release.

Below is a schedule of this month’s drives:

• Oct. 15: King Kekaulike High School from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Oct. 16: Cameron Center from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Oct. 17: H.P. Baldwin High School from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Oct. 18: Cameron Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The bank depends on 200 volunteer donors a day to provide blood to Hawai’i’s 18 hospitals.

Blood donations are used daily for surgeries, trauma victims, delivering mothers, cancer treatments, transplants, and other procedures.
