Māʻalaea Fire Scorches Two Acres of Brush
A brush fire burned an estimated two acres along the Honoapiʻilani Highway in Māʻalaea before being brought under control on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019
The incident was reported at 9:52 a.m. along the Mauna side of the Honoapiʻilani Highway near the Kūihelani Highway intersection.
Responding fire units included: Engine 1, Engine 6, Engine 10, Tanker 10 and Tanker 14.
Conditions on scene included 10 to 15 mph winds blowing from the south.
The fire was 100% contained at 11:19 a.m.
Crews remained on scene at 1:30 p.m. to continue mop-up operations, and anticipated full extinguishment shortly.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
