A Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peace March takes place this morning in Wailuku. The event is hosted by the African Americans on Maui Association and begins with opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m.  at the Stone of Hope Monument fronting the Kalana O Maui building.  The march begins at 9 a.m.

An interfaith service will also be held today to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and his efforts to achieve social justice. The 8th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Service is hosted by Stand Up Maui and takes pace from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Ala Lani United Methodist Church in Kahului.  Organizers say the event will provide an opportunity to suspend differences, join together, and become the change needed for a better Maui.
