A high surf warning has been extended to 6 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, for the North and West facing shores of Molokaʻi and the North facing shores of Maui.
The National Weather Service is forecasting waves of 25 to 35 feet along the north facing shores; and 15 to 25 feet along the west shores of affected islands.
The forecast calls for elevated warning level surf today followed by advisory levels tomorrow.
The NWS says the public can expect “ocean water occasionally sweeping across portions of beaches, very strong breaking waves, and strong longshore and rip currents. Breaking waves may occasionally impact harbors making navigating the harbor channel dangerous.”
