On the roadways, lane closures are planned at two spots along the Hāna Highway for ongoing road work being conducted by the Hawaiʻi State Department of Transportation.

Soil Nail Installation, a technique used to reinforce soil and make it more stable, takes place in Wailua Valley near the state wayside park.

In Haʻikū, retaining wall work continues along the Hāna Highway near Papaʻaea Road.

Both projects will result in a 24-hour lane closure of the highway in the northbound direction.  The Haʻikū project will become a full road closure in both directions for night work, beginning on Tuesday night, Jan.28, through Friday morning, Jan. 31, between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. The single lane closure will resume at 4 a.m. on Friday for the remainder of the day.

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice; and all projects are weather permitting.
