Maui Ocean Center to Hold Annual 5K

In celebration of Maui Ocean Center’s 22nd Anniversary, the aquarium is proud to present the 9th Annual Maui 5K, in partnership with Run for Fitness, on Sunday, March 1, 2020.

The Maui 5K is open to parents, students, athletes, and non-athletes alike to raise funds for Maui County schools.

Proceeds raised through the run will provide additional funds to maintain or purchase new equipment for schools’ physical fitness, play, and athletic programs.

The 9th Annual Maui 5K begins and ends at the parking lot at the Maui Ocean Center. Parking is free. Start time is 7 a.m. following a brief safety announcement.

There is no time limit to complete the race. At approximately 8:30 a.m., a post-race celebration will be held with refreshments, awards ceremony, entertainment by DJ Teddy of Your Mix Maui, and a Critter Station hosted by the Maui Ocean Center.

Registration is currently open with over 200 participants already signed up. The Maui 5K features a timed 5K run, untimed 1Mile walk/run, and a virtual run option. Strollers are welcomed on the course but must start behind all runners.

The deadline to submit paper applications and be eligible for a t-shirt is Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020. Online registration is open until the day of the race. Packet pickup available at Adventure Sports Maui.

The Maui 5K is currently accepting donations and sponsorship opportunities are available.
