Fire Crews Douse Blaze Off Pi’ilani Highway

A wind-whipped brush fire that burned about 2 acres of light brush off Pi’ilani Highway this morning has now been fully contained, according to Maui fire officials.
The blaze was reported at 6 a.m. near mile post 26.5.
Officials say the fire was surrounded by 10 to 20 mile per hour gusts.
The fire is “expected to be declared extinguished very soon,” according to a press release from the fire department.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
